Right now, as you read these very words, there are men and women out there swallowing! Brave souls far from their homes, each setting foot onto the medical-frontlines, somewhat like a plucky vanguard of human guinea pigs. Needless to say, these brave souls don’t seek your praise or even a pat on their guinea pig backs, but there they are, silent, unassuming, each opening their gobs wide, fearlessly making sure the pills you, your infant or grandmother swallow are good pills!

In Part One of Notes of a Human Guinea Pig we witness Tom Conrad’s fictional alter ego, Frankie Drake, swallowing his very first cocktail of pills during a saucy and strange medical trial. Part One, essentially a short story, is an introduction to the strange world of “volunteers” being “paid” to be prodded, poked, and probed.

Please Note: Notes of a Human Guinea Pig is divided up into serialized installments. Part One is essentially a short story, Part Two and Three, are somewhat longer (novella length). Each part focuses on central character Frankie Drake and his experiences being paid to... swallow.
