Originally published in 1997, The Wild Man of Wivenhoe is a verse legend by Martin Newell, with illustrations by James Dodds, told by several members of a Wivenhoe pub about a "saucer-eyed, hairy, naked young man" who was dredged out of the river by fishermen and their encounters with him.
